What type of mascara brush is the best?
Just like we will not make a painter use a roller to finish his painting and a decorator a watercolour brush, we should not use for make-up any accessories that are not intended for this purpose. Improperly selected or poorly designed tools can spoil even the most beautiful make-up. That’s why the choice of a good mascara brush is very important. The following guide will help you choose the best of the best brush.
What type of mascara brush is the best?
1. A good mascara brush matches the formula
This is an extremely important aspect of a good mascara. The wand should make a whole with the formula, unfortunately, not many manufacturers manage to do it. The worst are bristle brushes, which don’t work well with almost any formula. Even if at the beginning the mascara gives promising results, after a month the bristle brush can hardly cope with precise application of oxidized formula.
Silicone wands work well with most of formulas.
2. Silicone brush is always better than the nylon one
Nylon (also known as ‘hairy’) wands are a relic of bygone era. They are less hygienic, less precise, a large amount of dust and dirt accumulate on them and the risk of multiplication of bacteria is increased. It’s also hard to keep clean and quickly collect dirt, dust and dried formula that lead to clumps. It’s important to mention that nylon easily gets deformed and the application itself is not very precise. The silicone one, on the other hand, is extremely durable and well-designed, it also separates the eyelashes well.
3. The best mascara brush – shape
Many people group brushes on the basis of their properties – curling, thickening or lengthening. Some of them are not suitable for short eyelashes or small eyes because they smudge.
If you want to own a perfect wand – choose one that curls, thickens and lengthens at the same time. The best are thin and long brushes (often jokingly called a ‘barrel’). Such wands usually narrow at both ends. They are made of silicone and have a proper spacing of bristles – so that it does not stick together the eyelashes, as is often the case with nylon wands.
How to take proper care of the brush?
Why to care for it at all? It’s quite logical: the more often we use it, the more dirt is accumulated on it. Dirty wand causes sensitizations and eye irritations, that’s why it’s so important to clean it. Dust and dirt, as well as bacteria multiplication can cause very unpleasant illnesses leading even to deterioration of visual acuity. The best in terms of cleaning are silicone wands – they can be thoroughly cleaned and don’t deform during cleaning. Besides the bacteria, on the unwashed brush dried clumps accumulate, which are later applied on eyelashes. They spoil the effect of make-up and smudge.
It is best to wash the mascara brush once every 1-2 weeks. Carefully take it out of the tube and put it under the stream of water – the water will remove the clumps. To wash the brush thoroughly – use a delicate hypoallergenic soap that will not irritate your eyes. Soap and rinse it thoroughly and, if necessary, repeat the operation. The wand should be dry before next use, so it’s best to wash it in the evening before the bedtime.
